BrewQuanta® will be presented to the brewing industry for the first time at BrauBeviale 2026 in Nuremberg. The new IT and AI software solution helps breweries and brewery groups forecast key quality and process metrics, identify potential deviations early, and optimize brewing processes in a targeted way.
BrewQuanta® connects production, process, and laboratory data with existing brewing expertise across the entire brewing process—from raw materials and production through laboratory analysis and quality management to the finished batch. The software provides a foundation for examining relationships across systems and process stages and making better-informed decisions.
Supporting brewery teams is central to this approach: their experience remains the foundation. BrewQuanta® complements it with data-driven insights, forecasts, and recommendations.
Turning Disparate Data into a Shared Understanding of the Brewing Process
When a brewing process does not deliver the expected result, a time-consuming investigation often begins. Raw material analyses, process data, equipment and sensor data, and laboratory results are distributed across different systems and formats. To make an informed assessment, this information must be brought together, linked in the appropriate context, and evaluated using the practical expertise of brewery teams.
The later a potential deviation is identified, the less time there may be to respond. Opportunities to influence beer quality, resource efficiency, and production planning may already be limited.
BrewQuanta® addresses this challenge by bringing together relevant data from connected brewery systems and linking it in the context of raw materials, processes, and batches. This makes it possible to examine how earlier process stages influence later results—providing a foundation for targeted optimization across the entire brewing process.
How BrewQuanta® Uses AI in the Brewing Process
Machine-learning algorithms learn relationships between raw materials, process conditions, and quality metrics from historical brewing data. The resulting machine-learning models, together with statistical methods, use current brewing data to forecast key quality and process metrics.
Early warnings highlight potential deviations. Data-driven recommendations help teams select suitable process adjustments. Brewery teams assess the results in the context of their equipment, recipes, and production conditions.
BrewQuanta® supports the following tasks in particular:
- Forecasting Quality and Process Developments
Forecasts indicate how relevant quality and process metrics are likely to develop. They complement brewery teams’ experience and help them prepare appropriate measures. - Identifying Potential Deviations Early
Trends and early warnings make critical developments visible sooner. This can give specialists more time to assess the situation and respond effectively. - Narrowing Down Causes More Quickly
Relationships between raw materials, process data, and quality metrics can be examined together. This supports root-cause analysis without replacing the judgment of experienced employees. - Selecting Suitable Process Adjustments
Data-driven recommendations help teams identify appropriate measures and assess them within their operational context. - Improving Resource Efficiency
Process data analysis helps identify opportunities to improve the use of raw materials, production equipment, and capacity.
The aim is to support consistent beer quality and more stable, reproducible, and efficient brewing processes.
Enhancing Brewing Expertise, Not Replacing It
- Brewmasters and production teams understand the specific characteristics of their brewery. They know how raw materials, recipes, equipment, and operational workflows interact. This expertise remains essential when using AI.
- BrewQuanta® provides supplementary insights, forecasts, and recommendations. The responsible experts assess these results and interpret them within the operational context.
Responsibility for process decisions remains with the brewery.
“Brewing is and remains genuine craftsmanship and a true passion – modern technology does not take that away from us; rather, it can help us become even better.”
— Anna Buchberger, Brewing Engineer with IT Background at beON
In addition to supporting day-to-day operations, BrewQuanta® can help document existing expertise systematically, share it, and make it available to other teams. This helps preserve practical experience and connect it with insights gained from process data.
Supporting Individual Breweries and Cross-Site Collaboration
Brewery groups face the additional challenge of making information from multiple sites available for shared analysis. Equipment, systems, recipes, and production conditions often differ—as do data formats and established working practices.
BrewQuanta® makes it possible to bring together data from multiple brewery sites through a central user interface. This supports cross-site analysis, comparisons, and the sharing of brewing expertise.
Local characteristics remain important: results should be assessed in the context of each site’s production conditions. The aim is not to treat different breweries as identical, but to make experience and insights available for shared improvement.
Integration with Existing Brewery Systems
BrewQuanta® is designed to integrate with existing IT and production environments, including heterogeneous system landscapes. Depending on the system environment, data can be integrated from sources such as:
-
- MES and process control systems, including Siemens BRAUMAT and ProLeiT brewmaxx
- ERP systems such as SAP
- Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Additional sources of raw material analyses, sensor data, and production equipment data
The specific implementation depends on the individual system architecture, data availability and quality, and the requirements of the respective brewery.
Two aspects work together: the software is integrated into the existing IT landscape, and BrewQuanta® brings together and links data from connected systems for joint analysis.
beON supports the introduction in close coordination with IT, production, and automation teams. Interfaces, requirements, and responsibilities are clarified jointly, while integration, testing, and commissioning are aligned with operational workflows.
Moving Step by Step from Forecasting to Process Automation
BrewQuanta® has a modular design. Implementation can begin with consolidating relevant brewery data, generating forecasts, and providing early warnings. AI-based recommendations and suitable automated process adjustments can then be added.
The appropriate level of implementation depends on the objectives, data, systems, and organizational requirements of each brewery. Automated adjustments are implemented within the agreed scope and in accordance with defined approval rules.
Data access and changes to process parameters are governed separately. This allows the solution to be expanded step by step in line with the brewery’s requirements.
“The solution helps breweries and brewery groups not only understand what is happening in the process, but also identify at an early stage how relevant quality and process parameters may develop. This gives brewery teams more time to make well-informed decisions, optimize processes more effectively, and apply proven brewing expertise across multiple sites.”
— Thomas Conrad, CEO of beON consult GmbH
